Querying video contents by motion example

Proceedings 1999 International Symposium on Database Applications in Non-Traditional Environments (DANTE'99) (Cat. No.PR00496), 2003
This paper presents a new conceptual model for representing visual information about moving objects in video data. Based on available automatic scene segmentation and object tracking algorithms, the proposed model calculates object motions at various levels of semantic granularity.

A Pictorial Query-By-Example Language

Journal of Visual Languages & Computing, 1995
Abstract A symbolic image is an array representing a set of objects and a set of spatial relations among them. Symbolic images and related structures have been used in a number of applications including image databases, spatial reasoning, path planning and spatial pattern matching.

Active Learning by Querying Informative and Representative Examples

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2014
Active learning reduces the labeling cost by iteratively selecting the most valuable data to query their labels. It has attracted a lot of interests given the abundance of unlabeled data and the high cost of labeling. Most active learning approaches select either informative or representative unlabeled instances to query their labels, which could ...

High performance Query-by-Example keyword spotting using Query-by-String techniques

2015 13th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR), 2015
Keyword Spotting (KWS) has been traditionally considered under two distinct frameworks: Query-by-Example (QbE) and Query-by-String (QbS). In both cases the user of the system wished to find occurrences of a particular keyword in a collection of document images.

Pattern by example

Proceedings of the 10th international ACM SIGPLAN conference on Principles and practice of declarative programming, 2008
We present Pattern-by-Example (PBE), a graphical language that allows users with little or no knowledge of pattern-matching and functional programming to define complex and optimized queries on XML documents. We demonstrate the key features of PBE by commenting an interactive session and then we present its semantics by formally defining a translation ...

Ontology-Schema Based Query by Example

2019
The Web has evolved from a network of linked documents to one where both documents and data are linked, resulting in what is commonly known as the Web of Linked Data, that includes a large variety of data usually published in RDF from multiple domains. Intuitive ways of accessing RDF data become increasingly important since the standard approach would ...

Query by example for nested tables

1998
QBEN, a Query By Example language for Nested tables, is described. QBEN is user-friendly and allows for the easy formulation of complex queries. At the same time, optimization techniques can be incorporated that enable the global optimization of a series of queries. QBEN is addressed both to non-experts and experts.

GuessXQ

2013
XML is a widely used general-purpose annotation formalism for creating custom markup languages. XML annotations give structure to plain documents to interpret their content. To extract information from XML documents XPath and XQuery languages can be used. However, the learning of these dialects requires a considerable effort.

MedlineQBE (Query-by-Example).

Proceedings. AMIA Symposium, 2002
Medline has the potential to significantly improve medical care but effective information retrieval remains difficult. Custom interfaces and relevance feedback are two approaches that have been successfully used to improve information retrieval. There are, however, many ways to implement these approaches.

Object Oriented XML Query by Example

2003
This paper describes an XML query language called XML-QBE, which can be used to both query and update XML documents and databases. The language itself has a simple XML form, and uses a query by example paradigm. This language was designed as a middleware layer between UML data models and backend database schemas, as part of a solution to the ...
