Questioning the biogenicity of Neoproterozoic superheavy pyrite by SIMS

The Neoproterozoic sulfur isotope (δ34S) record is characterized by anomalously high δ34Spyrite values. Many δ34Spyrite values are higher than the contemporaneous δ34Ssulfate (i.e., δ34Spyrite > δ34Ssulfate), showing reversed fractionation.
