Rediscovery of Passiflora clypeophylla (subgenus Decaloba): a highly threatened and narrow endemic species found within a karstic canyon in Guatemala

Passiflora clypeophylla, an endemic species to the Guatemalan karstic forests last seen in 1889 and deemed extinct, was rediscovered in the Department of Alta Verapaz, east of Cobán. Disarming the Hsp70–Bim Alliance: Small‐Molecule and Peptidic Disruptors of a Chaperone‐Apoptotic Switch in Cancer

Targeting a nucleotide‐sensitive groove on Hsp70 that binds the Bim BH3 helix, we integrate structures, biophysics, and SAR from peptides, fragments, and phenalene‐dicarbonitrile “wedges.” These disrupt the Hsp70–Bim complex with sub‐µM cellular engagement and in vivo activity while sparing Hsp90/mortalin.

Poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate)/thermoplastic starch blends, produced by melt processing, showed improvements in mechanical properties and water vapor transmission barrier performance, which can help control excessive water evaporation from the soil, thus contributing to pH and moisture regulation.
