Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Adsorption of Phenols from Different Solvents on Graphene: Semi-Empirical Quantum Mechanical Calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The adsorption of phenol from aqueous solutions on carbon surfaces is discussed from different theoretical points of view, such as Monte–Carlo simulations, semi-empirical calculations, density functional theory and molecular dynamics.

A Cu‐Based Near‐IR Active MOF with an Ion‐Pair Guest Exhibiting Versatile and Selective Gas‐Solid Reactivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The new Cu‐containing MOF (Me2NH2)(CuICl2)@[Cu4(INA)4Cl2O]·1.5dmf (3) contains a cation and an anion as guests and shows UV‐near‐mid‐IR absorption and near‐IR emission. MOF 3 shows gas‐solid reactivity in the presence of NH3 and HCOOH to yield two new 3D MOF.

COFs on MOFs: Layer‐by‐Layer Synthesis of MOF@COF Nanoparticles with Synergistic Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A layer‐by‐layer strategy enables the growth of crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) shells on metal–organic framework nanoparticles, creating core–shell structures with tunable porosity. Ordered interstitial mesopores are formed during shell growth, which are connected with the COF's intrinsic micropores, thereby enhancing water sorption. This

Exploiting electron storage in TiO2 nanoparticles for dark reduction of As(v) by accumulated electrons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
UV irradiation of an ethanolic sol of TiO2 nanoparticles produces a trapped Ti(III) centre and a noticeable Burstein shift. Direct evidence that the accumulated charges can drive the otherwise forbidden reduction of As(V) by conduction band electrons ...

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.
