Spectrophotometric determination of glycolic acid with chromotropic acid assisted by microwave oven

open access: yes, 2002
In this work, a rapid, simple and selective spectrophotometric for the determination of glycolic acid is proposed. This method is based on selective reaction between the formaldehyde splitted off by the glycolic acid, which reacts with chromotropic acid ...

Evaluation of cardiac histology and cell death markers during the progression of diabetes in a streptozotocin‐induced diabetes rat model

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Daily insulin administration in streptozotocin‐induced diabetic rats prevented cardiac damage associated with diabetic cardiomyopathy, including hypertrophy, fibrosis, and expression of cell death markers, at 12 weeks. However, cyclophilin D, a marker of mitochondrial permeability transition pore‐opening‐associated cell death (necrosis), was observed ...

The Role of Zn–Hf Site Proximity and Oxygen Vacancies for Methanol Formation Over ZnHfOx Catalysts Under CO2 Hydrogenation Conditions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
ZnHfOx catalysts enable highly selective hydrogenation of CO2 to methanol over a wide range of Zn contents, as the Zn‐VO‐Hf active motif (VO = oxygen vacancy) exists not only in solid solution‐type ZnHfOx for low Zn contents (≤ 35 mol%), but also as HfOx cluster/single atom decorated ZnO surfaces for Zn contents > 95 mol%.

Cholesterol Sulfate in Biological Membranes: A Biophysical Study in Cholesterol-Poor and Cholesterol-Rich Biomimetic Models

open access: yesMembranes
As a surface-located molecule in biological membranes, cholesterol sulphate (CholS) plays a major role in membrane-driven cell–cell processes and events including platelet-cell adhesion, T-cell receptor signalling, sperm–egg interaction, membrane fusion,

Human Leukocyte Elastase Triggered Nanoparticles for Targeted Antimicrobial Delivery and Oral Microbial Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This study explores enzyme‐responsive nanoparticles for targeted antimicrobial release in inflamed oral environments. Nanoparticles formed by complexing peptides and chlorhexidine respond to human leukocyte elastase and release chlorhexidine selectively. P7 (ECAAPVCE)‐based formulations show optimal properties and stability, with antimicrobial activity

π‐Extended COUPY Fluorophores for Targeted Near‐Infrared Fluorescence and Lifetime Imaging in Live Cells

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
π‐Extended COUPY dyes, obtained by vinylogation of coumarin‐based COUPY scaffolds, shift absorption, and emission deep into the NIR region while preserving compactness and synthetic accessibility. These bright, photostable dyes enable live‐cell imaging, FLIM, and site‐specific peptide conjugation, offering a modular platform for targeted bioimaging and
