Imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines - A Versatile Platform for Structurally Distinct N-Heterocyclic Olefins and π-Extended Heterocycles. [PDF]
The synthesis of N‐heterocyclic olefins (NHOs) based on an imidazo[1,5‐a]pyridine scaffold is described. While C5‐alkyl or aryl substituents yield stable NHOs, alkenyl or alkynyl groups at C5 induce 6‐endo cyclization to form (dihydro)imidazo[2,1,5‐de]quinolizines with strong paratropic ring currents.

A carboxylic acid functionalized Meldrum's acid derivative (3‐(2‐methyl‐4,6‐dioxo‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐yl)propanoic acid) was identified as a valuable building block to achieve facile late‐stage functionalization of enzyme‐responsive “covalent‐assembly” probes whose activation produces fluorescent coumarin or pyronin dyes.

Regio‐ and Stereoselective Synthesis of Benzoquinolizidines
Organocatalytic enantioselective domino Michael addition‐cyclization‐dehydration reactions and catalytic hydrogenation were carried to prepare benzo[c]quinolizidines with three contiguous chirality centers. The D2PM‐TMS showed the best performance with enantiomeric excess up to 95 %.
