QUOTIENT STRUCTURED SPACES

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 2008
AbstractIn this paper we investigate some properties of quotient structured spaces. The notion of a structured space was originally considered by Mostow [In the beginning we present some basic notions and definitions from structured space theory. Then we discuss some properties of quotient structured spaces. In the third part we present a space-time as

The myth of the metabolic baseline: sleep–wake cycles undermine a foundational assumption in organismal biology

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Basal and standard metabolic rate (BMR and SMR) are cornerstones of physiological ecology and are assumed to be relatively fixed intrinsic properties of organisms that represent the minimum energy required to sustain life. However, this assumption is conceptually flawed. Many core maintenance processes underlying SMR are temporally partitioned

From Ecosystem Threats to Balance Sheets: Biodiversity Risks Exposure and Corporate Cash Policies

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how firms strategically respond to biodiversity risk by examining their cash holding decisions. Using firm‐level data from China, we find that firm‐level biodiversity risk exposure significantly increases corporate cash holdings.

Quotient quiver subtraction

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We develop the diagrammatic technique of quiver subtraction to facilitate the identification and evaluation of the $\mathrm{SU}(n)$ hyper-Kähler quotient (HKQ) of the Coulomb branch of a $3d$ $\mathcal{N}=4$ unitary quiver theory. The target quivers are drawn from a wide range of theories, typically classified as ''good'' or ''ugly'', which satisfy ...

Epilepsy Phenotypic Spectrum of NUS1‐Related Disorder: A Case Series

open access: yesAnnals of the Child Neurology Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Epilepsy with myoclonic and atonic seizures (EMAtS), also known as Doose syndrome, accounts for 1%–2% of childhood epilepsies, and various genes have been implicated in causing this epilepsy syndrome. NUS1 encodes for Nogo‐B receptor (NgBR), which stabilizes the dehydrodolichyl‐diphosphate synthase complex in the endoplasmic ...

Isoperimetric inequalities on slabs with applications to cubes and Gaussian slabs

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We study isoperimetric inequalities on “slabs”, namely weighted Riemannian manifolds obtained as the product of the uniform measure on a finite length interval with a codimension‐one base. As our two main applications, we consider the case when the base is the flat torus R2/2Z2$\mathbb {R}^2 / 2 \mathbb {Z}^2$ and the standard Gaussian measure

Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\
