The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

R&D Depreciation Rates in the 2007 R&D Satellite Account [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper is part of a series that provides the details behind the Bureau of Economic Analysis’s (BEA) satellite account on research and development (R&D) activity. In the current work, the focus is on industry-specific depreciation rates for business R&D capital. This paper begins by discussing the literature on R&D depreciation rates.

On the Failure of R&D Projects. [PDF]

open access: possibleIEEE Trans. Engineering Management, 2015
There is an extensive literature on the success/failure of firm-funded R&D projects but growing policy interest focuses on publicly-funded R&D projects. Using data from 1,878 Phase II R&D projects funded through the U.S. Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, of which 624 had been discontinued prior to technical completion, we provide for ...

R(D) and R(D*) anomalies and their phenomenological implications

Nuclear and Particle Physics Proceedings, 2017
Recently, BaBar, Belle and LHCb have found hints of lepton flavour universality violation in B→D(⁎)τν‾τ decays, i.e., the measured ratios R(D(⁎))=B(B→D(⁎)τν‾τ)/B(B→D(⁎)lν‾l)(l=e/μ) show a combined 3.8 σ deviation from the SM predictions. In this talk, we will discuss two possible solutions to the observed R(D) and R(D*) anomalies: one with an EW-scale ...
