Fables de La Fontaine, Album No. 1
This booklet represents one of those great moments in collecting. Nineteen years ago I found Album No. 2 of the fables of La Fontaine by Imageries Réunies de Jarville-Nancy, which I take to have been a major competitor of Pelerin of Épinal.

I was surprised to learn of the existence of this substantial work as I prepared for a trip to France. I saw it there and was willing to consider it for €500. When I came home, I decided to check online to see if it might otherwise be available.

Fables Choisies Mise en Vers par Monsieur La Fontaine
Here is a charming 18th century La Fontaine with designs at the beginning of each of the twelve books and a lovely frontispiece of Aesop, La Fontaine, Fable, and Truth. In fact, I find the model for this frontispiece in the 1740 Triller, Neue Aesopische
