Investigation of the Interactions between Refrigerant, Flowsheet, and Compressor in Residential Heat Pumps

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 11, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
The interdependencies of the refrigerant, flowsheet, compressor, and operating point are evaluated for residential heat pumps. The study shows that the optimal refrigerant strongly depends on the flowsheet and the compressor modeling approach.

Parametric Evaluation of the Flow Boiling Heat Transfer Properties of R22 and R407c inside Horizontal Microfin Tube

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The flow boiling heat transfer performance of R22 and R407c, in a microfin tube with a helix angle of 22° and an apex angle of 48°, was evaluated in a study. The study is aimed at investigating the impact of heat flux, mass flux, saturation temperature, and vapor quality on the heat transfer coefficient during flow boiling.

Performance Improvement of OTEC‐ORC and Turbine Based on Binary Zeotropic Working Fluid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
In this paper, the composition of binary nonazeotropic working fluids is explored from the perspective of improving OTEC‐ORC efficiency, and the turbine is designed to accommodate with the working fluid. It is found that the OTEC‐ORC using a R152a/R32 mixture as the working fluid is significantly higher than the OTEC‐ORC thermal efficiency and system ...

Fundamentals, Thermophysical Properties, and Heat Transfer Characteristics of Nanorefrigerants: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Cooling applications that utilize latent heat property of fluids involve large heat transfer and throw more space for energy conservative research studies. Heating ventilation air‐conditioning and refrigeration systems, which have now grown as an integral part in human life, circulate refrigerants and necessitate developments to become energy‐efficient.

Convective condensation of R134a and R1234ze(E) inside microfin tube

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2023
Abstract Environmental concerns are forcing the replacement of the commonly used refrigerants and finding new fluids is a top priority. The hydro-fluoro-olefin (HFO) R1234ze(E), because of its smaller global warming potential (GWP) and shorter atmospheric lifetime, replaced R134a.

Refrigerant R32 as lower GWP working fluid in residential air conditioning systems in Europe and the USA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Because air conditioning and heat pump systems contribute greatly to greenhouse gas emissions, equipment with both lower global warming potential (GWP) working fluids and a higher level of performance should be used.
