Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Point-of-care ultrasound: a viable alternative for assessing ulnar neuropathy in rheumatoid arthritis?

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasonography
This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound measurements of the ulnar nerve cross-sectional area in comparison to electrodiagnostic tests for identifying ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow in rheumatoid arthritis.

Regulatory effect of bacterial melanin on the isoforms of new superoxide-producing associates from rat tissues in rotenone-induced Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2023
According to recent research, selective neuronal vulnerability in Parkinson’s disease (PD) results from several phenotypic traits, including calcium-dependent, feed-forward control of mitochondrial respiration leading to elevated reactive oxygen species ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Decoding the dynamic extracellular matrix in cancer—3D models and bioscaffolds rewire the rules of tumor progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Relationship Between Biomarker of Human Calprotectin with Rheumatoid Arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bioscience and Applied Research
The etiology of RA, a chronic inflammatory joint disease, is complex and involves the immune system.   One of the main components of neutrophils and polymorphonuclear granulocytes, which have been linked to the pathophysiology of autoimmune inflammatory ...
