An RT-qPCR Assay from Rectal Swabs for the Detection of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 in Natural Cases. [PDF]

open access: goldTransbound Emerg Dis, 2023
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 (RHDV2 or Lagovirus europaeus GI.2) is spreading across North America. This has enabled submissions of lagomorphs for testing to veterinary diagnostic laboratories (VDLs). The liver is currently the gold-standard sample

Occurrence of Lagovirus europaeus (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus) in Domestic Rabbits in Southwestern Poland in 2019: Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiol Spectr, 2022
Lagovirus europaeus (rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus [RHDV]) is a small, nonenveloped, single-stranded RNA virus that causes a severe, highly infectious, and fatal disease in rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) called rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD). Since

Clinical Pathology Evaluation in Pet Rabbits Vaccinated Against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 (RHDV2). [PDF]

open access: goldAnimals (Basel)
Simple Summary Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 (RHDV2) was reported in the United States in 2018 and has since spread across most of the country where it has a potential for adverse impacts on ecosystems, economic losses, and pet rabbit health.

Variant Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus in Young Rabbits, Spain

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2012
Outbreaks of rabbit hemorrhagic disease have occurred recently in young rabbits on farms on the Iberian Peninsula where rabbits were previously vaccinated. Investigation identified a rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus variant genetically related to apathogenic rabbit caliciviruses.

A novel reverse transcription recombinase polymerase amplification assay for rapid detection of GI.1 genotype of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Vet Sci, 2023
Rabbit Viral Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) is a highly contagious and fatal infection, resulting in considerable economic losses to the rabbit industry. Consequently, it is essential to develop a fast and accurate diagnostic method for RHDV GI.1.

Immunological Cross-Protection between Different Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Viruses-Implications for Rabbit Biocontrol and Vaccine Development. [PDF]

open access: yesVaccines (Basel), 2022
The use of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) as a biocontrol agent to control feral rabbit populations in Australia, in combination with circulating endemic strains, provides a unique environment to observe the interactions between different ...

Shared Human/Rabbit Ligands for Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2012
To the Editor: Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a calicivirus of the genus Lagovirus that causes epidemics of an acute disease and mortality rates of 50%–90% among rabbits. The disease, which was first described in 1984, is characterized by hemorrhagic lesions, mainly affecting the liver and lungs 24–72 h after infection (1).

Novel Calicivirus Identified in Rabbits, Michigan, USA [PDF]

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2009
We report a disease outbreak in a Michigan rabbitry of a rabbit calicivirus distinct from the foreign animal disease agent, rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV). The novel virus has been designated Michigan rabbit calicivirus (MRCV).
