Monitoring of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus in European Wild Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) Populations by PCR Analysis of Rabbit Fecal Pellets

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 2022
: European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) are affected by rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD), which is caused by a lagovirus responsible for significant mortality in European wild rabbit populations. Our study aimed to evaluate the potential for detecting

Sequence and genomic organization of a rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus isolated from a wild rabbit

Virus Genes, 1995
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a member of the caliciviridae family. The nucleotidic sequence of a full-length cDNA of one RHDV isolate (RHDV-SD) is reported. The genome is 7437 bases long and includes two ORFs, ORF1 (7034 b) and ORF2 (353 b), coding for the polyprotein and the Vp12, respectively.

Emergence of new virulent rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus strains in Saudi Arabia [PDF]

open access: possibleTropical Animal Health and Production, 2016
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease is an acute fatal highly contagious viral infectious disease that causes high losses among rabbitries. The disease was first reported in China in 1984 and later on in Saudi Arabia in 1996. The aim of this study was to investigate the emergence and pathogenicity of new rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) strains in Saudi ...

A recombinant canarypox virus protects rabbits against a lethal rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) challenge

Vaccine, 1997
An ALVAC (canarypox)-based recombinant virus ALVAC-RHDV (vCP309) expressing a native rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) capsid protein was derived and assessed for its protective efficacy in rabbits. Protection against a lethal RHDV challenge was demonstrated in rabbits inoculated twice with either high (10(7) p.f.u.) or low (10(5) p.f.u.) doses ...

Pathology of Lagovirus europaeus GI.2/RHDV2/b (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2) in Native North American Lagomorphs

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 2021
: Rabbit hemorrhagic disease, a notifiable foreign animal disease in the US, was reported for the first time in wild native North American lagomorphs in April 2020 in the southwestern US.

Antigenicity of the rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus studied by its reactivity with monoclonal antibodies

Virus Research, 1995
A panel of anti-rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (anti-RHDV) monoclonal antibodies was produced and characterized. The ability of the MAbs to recognize epitopes present on RHDV capsids, European brown hare syndrome virus capsids and RHDV subunits was determined.

CHARACTERISTICS FOR SOME RABBIT HEMORRHAGIC DISEASE VIRUS (RHDV) STRAINS PROPAGATED IN ISOLATED RENAL CELL OF RABBIT

Taiwan Veterinary Journal
The renal cells were isolated from the kidney of different week-age of healthy rabbits by a single two-stage pass perfusion method and suspended in Hanks’ balanced salt solution (Ca[Formula: see text]-, Mg[Formula: see text]-free).

Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus—molecular cloning and nucleotide sequencing of a calicivirus genome

Virology, 1991
The RNA genome of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) was molecularly cloned. The 5' terminal sequence of the genomic RNA was determined after PCR amplification of a G-tailed first strand cDNA template. The cloned cDNA allowed determination of the first complete caliciviral sequence encompassing 7437 nucleotides without poly(A) tail.

RPS5 interacts with the rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 3' extremities region and plays a role in virus replication

Veterinary Microbiology, 2020
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV), a member of Caliciviridae family, causes a highly contagious disease in rabbits. The RHDV replication mechanism is poorly understood due to the lack of a suitable culture system in vitro. This study identified RHDV 5' and 3' extremities (Ex) RNA binding proteins from the rabbit kidney cell line RK-13 based on a ...

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 Experimental Infection in Snowshoe Hares (Lepus americanus).

Journal of Wildlife Diseases
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 (RHDV2) is an emerging virus of lagomorphs, with an extremely high mortality rate. Outbreaks of RHDV2 have been reported in domestic and wild European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and wild lagomorphs globally, with ...
