Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus VP60 protein expressed in recombinant swinepox virus self-assembles into virus-like particles with strong immunogenicity in rabbits [PDF]

open access: yesFront Microbiol, 2022
Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) is an economically significant infectious disease of rabbits, and its infection causes severe losses in the meat and fur industry.

Shared Human/Rabbit Ligands for Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2012
To the Editor: Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a calicivirus of the genus Lagovirus that causes epidemics of an acute disease and mortality rates of 50%–90% among rabbits. The disease, which was first described in 1984, is characterized by hemorrhagic lesions, mainly affecting the liver and lungs 24–72 h after infection (1).

Clinical and pathologic findings in an outbreak in rabbits of natural infection by rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 in the northwestern United States [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Diagn Invest, 2021
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 (RHDV2) causes an often-fatal disease of rabbits that has resulted in outbreaks in rabbitries in Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia.

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Non-structural Protein 6 Induces Apoptosis in Rabbit Kidney Cells [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD) is a highly contagious disease caused by rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV). Previous research has shown that RHDV induces apoptosis in numerous cell types, although the molecular mechanisms underlying the apoptosis ...

Lagovirus europeus GI.2 (rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2) infection in captive mountain hares (Lepus timidus) in Germany [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2020
Background Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV, Lagovirus europeus GI.1) induces a contagious and highly lethal hemorrhagic disease in rabbits. In 2010 a new genotype of lagovirus (GI.2), emerged in Europe, infecting wild and domestic population of ...

Emerging Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 (RHDVb), Australia

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2015
To the Editor: In May 2015 an isolate of the recently emerged variant of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV), RHDV2, was identified in an Australian wild rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). RHDV2 (also called RHDVb) was first described in outbreaks in France in 2010 (1), then Italy and Spain in 2011 (2,3) and in Portugal from 2012 onwards (4).

Histo-blood group antigens act as attachment factors of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus infection in a virus strain-dependent manner. [PDF]

open access: goldPLoS Pathogens, 2011
Rabbit Hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV), a calicivirus of the Lagovirus genus, and responsible for rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD), kills rabbits between 48 to 72 hours post infection with mortality rates as high as 50-90%.
