Radar Systems (RADAR 97), 1997
In this paper an algorithm based on emerging data compression techniques and suitably adapted to the radar data of a VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) System is presented. The basic idea derives from the JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) standard which converts image data to a spatial frequency representation using a 2-D discrete cosine transform (DCT)

Estimation Of Range-doppler Radar Images
1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002It is shown that most accurate reconstruction of a range-Doppler target density that can be computed from N waveforms and their echoes is obtained by transmitting the singular functions corresponding to the N largest singular values of two kernels derived from the target density.

Earth-based radar has been one of the few, and one of the most important, sources of new information about Mercury during the three decades since the Mariner 10 encounters. The emphasis during the past 15 years has been on full-disk, dual-polarization imaging of the planet, an effort that has been facilitated by the development of novel radar ...

It took almost exactly 100 years from Maxwell's first conception of the theory of electro-magnetic waves and the subsequent experimental proof by Hertz in the nineteenth century until the first patent on Doppler Beam Sharpening (DBS) was issued to Wiley in 1965.

Understanding remote sensing with imaging radar can be more difficult than with optical imaging because the technology itself is more complicated and the image data recorded is more varied. Since there are so many concepts and techniques to be assimilated, this chapter provides an overview of the topic as a framework for the later chapters.

All radar targets can be classified into point and complex targets. A point target is a convenient model object commonly used in radar science and practice to solve certain types of problems. It is defined as a target located at distance R from a radar at the viewing point '0', which scatters the incident radar radiation isotropically.

False Target RADAR Image Generator for Countering Wideband Imaging Radars
2012A system for generating a false target radar image for countering wideband synthetic aperture and inverse synthetic aperture imaging radar systems to prevent a selected target from being detected by such radar systems comprises a receiver system for producing a digital signal that represents an incident radar signal.

Abstract : This dissertation presents both analytic and processing techniques for various radar imaging systems. A two dimensional system classification method, which is very general and hence applies to the special case of radar imaging systems as well, is proposed to assist in understanding the structure and describing the limitations of 2-D systems.
