Exploiting the Functionality of Cerium Oxide‐Modified Carbon Nanohorns Catalysts Toward Enhanced CO2 Reduction Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A cerium oxide‐carbon nanohybrid catalyst is synthesized via two distinct routes and is integrated into H‐type cells and gas diffusion layers (GDLs) to enhance electrochemical performance. Structural variations significantly affect performance, with the solvothermal sample exhibiting higher current densities.

Photonics-based real-time ultra-high-range-resolution radar with broadband signal generation and processing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Real-time and high-resolution target detection is highly desirable in modern radar applications. Electronic techniques have encountered grave difficulties in the development of such radars, which strictly rely on a large instantaneous bandwidth.

High‐Density Boron Nitride Nanotube Composites via Surfactant‐Stabilized Lyotropic Liquid Crystals for Enhanced Space Radiation Shielding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐density BNNT films, enabling mechanical robustness and high space radiation shielding effectiveness, are fabricated using surfactant‐stabilized BNNT liquid crystal. Simulations indicate that a 50 g cm−2 BNNT film can reduce radiation exposure by 56% compared to zero shielding, potentially doubling the duration of astronaut missions on the lunar ...

Numerical study on signatures of atmospheric convective cells in radar images of the ocean

open access: yes, 1999
Current and wind variations at the ocean surface can give rise to a modulation of the sea surface roughness and thus become visible in radar images. The discrimination between radar signatures of oceanic and atmospheric phenomena can be quite difficult ...

Single‐Step Electrochemical Battery Recycling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the use of single‐step recovery, an electrochemical process combining electrodeposition and electro‐dissolution, to recover lithiated transition metal oxides (LTMOs). The batteries produced through this recycling method perform similarly to batteries made from pristine materials.

Gaussian‐Sigmoid Reinforcement Transistors: Resolving Exploration‐Exploitation Trade‐Off Through Gate Voltage‐Controlled Activation Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The characteristics of a vertical n–p–i–p heterostructure transistor device, which exhibits a voltage‐tunable transition between Gaussian and sigmoid functions, are investigated. The mixed state of the transfer curve enables the utilization of both exploitation and exploration, improving computational performance in reinforcement learning tasks ...

Sector imaging radar for enhanced vision [PDF]

open access: yesAerospace Science and Technology, 2003
Summary: SIREV (sector imaging radar for enhanced vision) is an innovative airborne radar system which can supply high-quality images in any desired direction under almost every weather condition. In contrast to synthetic aperture radar systems, no relative motion between sensor and targets is required in SIREV.
