Performance of high-resolution X-band weather radar networks – the PATTERN example [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2014
This publication intends to prove that a network of low-cost local area weather radars (LAWR) is a reliable and scientifically valuable complement to nationwide radar networks.

Revealing patterns of nocturnal migration using the European weather radar network

open access: yesEcography, 2018
Nocturnal avian migration flyways remain an elusive concept, as we have largely lacked methods to map their full extent. We used the network of European weather radars to investigate nocturnal bird movements at the scale of the European flyway. We mapped

Broadband, Wide‐Angle, and Versatile Metasurface Illusions with Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
“Illusion” is a captivating topic throughout human civilization. This research proposes an advanced multi‐layer metasurface illusion strategy utilizing a technique known as “inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR)” imaging, enabling the creation of illusions over broadband and wide‐angle.

Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Identification of CD38high Monocyte as a Candidate Diagnostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target for Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that CD38high monocytes discriminate sepsis and sterile inflammation and are associated with 28‐day mortality in bacterial sepsis. Targeting CD38 therapy reduces inflammatory response in monocytes and in sepsis mice model. Mechanistically, CD38‐HIF‐1α/glycolysis/MGO loop exacerbates sepsis‐induced immune dysregulation.
