Land cover change that leads to increased nutrient and sediment runoff is an important driver of change in coral reef ecosystems. In this study, we combined satellite remote sensing and field monitoring to assess concomitant changes in watershed land cover and coral cover in northeastern Puerto Rico in 2000–2015.

Using 25–30 cm Umbra synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery combined with ground validation of our observations, we introduce a method to track the phenology of emperor penguins during the Antarctic winter. We successfully identified events in the breeding cycle, which were previously impossible to observe during the complete darkness of Antarctic ...

Techniques for homodyne dechirp-on-receive linearly frequency modulated radar
This thesis presents work done to extend and improve the operation of homodyne dechirp-on-receive linearly frequency modulated radars. First, an investigation of the effect of common phase errors on the point response function of the radar is ...

Do the public take action when a severe snow warning is issued?
Extreme weather events pose significant risks to the population, making timely warnings essential for preparedness. The UK Met Office’s National Severe Weather Warning Service (NSWWS) has issued impact‐based alerts for over a decade, yet evaluations of their effectiveness remain limited.
