HFSW Radar Model: Simulation and Measurement

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2010
High-frequency surface-wave (HFSW) radars are usually used to remotely measure oceanographic parameters. These systems can also potentially detect targets beyond the conventional microwave radar coverage. In this paper, the backscattered Doppler spectrum made up of the sea clutter, ship echoes, and the background noise has been modeled.

Simulating Lightning Tests to Radar Systems

9th International Symposium on EMC Joint with 20th International Wroclaw Symposium on EMC, EMC Europe 2010, 2010
The risk of destruction due to lightning makes simulating the effects of lightning strikes a necessity. We modeled a radar enclosure and simulated the effect of a lightning strike. The results have been validated using full threat lightning current tests.

Radar Imaging Simulation for Urban Structures

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2011
With the recent advent of very high resolution (VHR) spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors such as TerraSAR-X and COSMO-SkyMed, the potential to use SAR simulators is increasing. In this letter, we propose a novel radar imaging simulator that is relatively simple to implement and that finds a balance between accuracy and efficiency.

The Merging Algorithm of Radar Simulation Data in Navigational Simulator

2014
In this paper, a method used to generate continuous and complete radar simulation data was described. This new method based on previous radar simulation data, which extracted from different scales S-57 standard electronic navigation charts in navigational simulator. In this work, the clipping buffer in per radar simulation data was set and the boundary

Environment and Radar Operation Simulator

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1979
The environment and radar operation simulator (EROS) is a hardware system whose function is to produce realistic synthetic radar backscatter, incorporating both target and clutter. The simulator is electrically connected to a subject radar and responds in real time to the radar's antenna scan angle by producing the correct composite video signal.

Digital simulation of polarimetric radars

SIMULATION, 1984
A new generation of radar systems that exploit the polarizing characteristics of various targets and clutter are under develop ment. These radars utilize the high-range resolution techniques of frequency-agile fast Fourier transform techniques and are a radical departure from conventional pulse radar.

Multifunction Simulator for Radar Test

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Abstract. This paper describes the design of a general purpose multifunction simulator which is used to test radar and its components. The simulator is a hardware system controlled by computer software which generates echoes of targets, clutter and jamming for radar electromagnetic environment scenario simulation.

Radar performance validation with simulation

2014 International Radar Conference, 2014
This paper explains how simulation can contribute to the airborne radars qualification. Thales Airborne Systems has developed a wide range of the simulation tools over the last few years and a new method called “Smart Qualification” is now deployed within the company. This method and these tools have demonstrated their efficiency.

Simulation of a spaceborne radar altimeter

Proceedings IEEE Southeastcon '98 'Engineering for a New Era', 2002
This paper describes a computer simulation developed for spaceborne radar altimeter applications. The simulation uses a behavioral model for an orbiting altimeter. The model developed is based on the GEOSAT Follow-On Radar Altimeter, but is general in nature and can be used as an analysis or design tool for altimeter design development, or testing.
