Signature Based Radar Target Classification

2021 International Conference on Recent Trends on Electronics, Information, Communication & Technology (RTEICT), 2021
This study attempts to categorize ten aerial targets, including fighter jets, missiles, military helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A large dataset comprising of simulations of aerial targets at various aspect angles is taken rather than real-time data in order to attain higher accuracy and better classification.

Radar target classification of commercial aircraft

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1996
With the increased availability of coherent wideband radars there has been a renewed interest in radar target recognition. A large bandwidth gives high resolution in range which means target discrimination may be possible. Coherence makes cross-range resolution and radar images possible.

Analysis and Exploitation of Multipath Ghosts in Radar Target Image Classification

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2014
An analysis of the relationship between multipath ghosts and the direct target image for radar imaging is presented. A multipath point spread function (PSF) is defined that allows for specular reflections in the local environment and can allow the ghost images to be localized.

Polarimetric fusion for synthetic aperture radar target classification

Pattern Recognition, 1997
Abstract The problem of target classification using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) polarizations is considered from a Bayesian decision point of view. This problem is analogous to the multi-sensor problem. We investigate the optimum design of a data fusion structure given that each classifier makes a target classification decision for each ...
