Classical radar waveform design
2012The waveform determines the delay-Doppler response of a radar system. From that response, one can derive the radar's range and velocity resolution and their ambiguities. This chapter explains the concept and motivation for pulse compression. It then describes narrow-band signals and their major signal processing and analysis tools - the matched filter ...

On the design of optimum radar waveforms for clutter rejection
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1967The problem to be considered in this paper is that of designing radar signals and receivers that are optimum for detecting a point target masked by a background of clutter returns and thermal noise. The problem of choosing an optimum signal when no constraints are placed on the type of signals allowed is discussed briefly, but the remainder of the ...

Periodic Binary Waveform Design for MIMO Radar
2019 53rd Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2019Most commercial multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar systems, such as the increasingly popular automotive radar systems, use linear frequency modulated continuous wave (LFMCW) as probing sequences. However, mutual interference problems become increasingly severe as these radar systems become widely used.

Abstract A confluence of steady advances in radar enabling technologies, and ever increasing demands on radar performance in challenging environments, has afforded a re-examination of the fundamental theoretical framework upon which classical waveform design is based.

On waveform design for MIMO radar with matrix completion
2014 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP), 2014In matrix completion based MIMO radars, the data matrix coherence, and consequently the performance of matrix completion depend on the transmit waveforms. It was recently shown that for uniform linear arrays and orthogonal waveforms, the optimal choice for waveforms are white-noise type functions.
