Adaptive MIMO radar waveforms

2008 IEEE Radar Conference, 2008
Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) radars enhance performance by transmitting and receiving coded waveforms from multiple locations. To date, the theoretical literature on MIMO radar has focused largely on the use of ldquoorthogonal waveforms.rdquo Practical approaches to approximate orthogonality (e.g., via waveforms characterized by low cross ...

HF radar waveform design

Sixth International Conference on `HF Radio Systems and Techniques', 1994
HF over-the-horizon radars often use CW transmissions comprising repeated linear FM sweeps. The resolution and sidelobe performance in the range dimension are determined within each sweep, but Doppler information is extracted by processing together the outputs of a number of sweeps.

MIMO radar waveform design

2012
In this chapter, we review various probing waveform transmission schemes for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar with co-located antennas. An orthogonal probing waveform set is required to separate the transmitted waveforms at the receiver side to achieve a large virtual array size afforded by the MIMO radar.

Radar waveform for automotive radar systems and applications

2008 IEEE Radar Conference, 2008
This paper describes three different continuous wave (CW) radar waveforms which are applied in automotive radar sensors. The radar sensor should be able to detect all objects inside the observation area and to estimate range, radial velocity and azimuth angle simultaneously even in multi target situations.

Optimal Radar Waveform Design

2014
Abstract A confluence of steady advances in radar enabling technologies, and ever increasing demands on radar performance in challenging environments, has afforded a re-examination of the fundamental theoretical framework upon which classical waveform design is based.

Classical radar waveform design

2012
The waveform determines the delay-Doppler response of a radar system. From that response, one can derive the radar's range and velocity resolution and their ambiguities. This chapter explains the concept and motivation for pulse compression. It then describes narrow-band signals and their major signal processing and analysis tools - the matched filter ...

Pulse Doppler radar waveforms

2010 International Waveform Diversity and Design Conference, 2010
Modern military airborne radars are highly sophisticated, multi-mode systems which are required to detect difficult targets in all aspects and over a large range/velocity detection space. There are particular difficulties associated with the airborne case such as the limited antenna aperture, high platform velocity and severe clutter levels which ...

Radar waveform synthesis method--A new radar detection scheme

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1980
A new scheme for radar detection and discrimination, the radar waveform synthesis method, is investigated. This scheme consists of synthesizing the waveform of an incident radar signal which excites the target in such a way that the return radar signal from the target contains only a single natural resonance mode of the target.
