Characterisation Campaign at the Gobabeb RadCalNet Site in Support of Satellite Calibration and Validation Activities

2020
<p>With increasing use of satellite-derived data in climate and Earth monitoring, the importance of reliable and traceable radiometric and spectral information is key. Due to the difficulties of maintaining instrument calibration post-launch, vicarious calibration sites play a vital part in ensuring the stability and ...

A comparison of validation and vicarious calibration of high and medium resolution satellite-borne sensors using RadCalNet

Sensors, Systems, and Next-Generation Satellites XXI, 2017
The Radiometric Calibration Network (RadCalNet, www.radcalnet.org) routinely provides top-of-atmosphere (TOA) reflectance data from instrumented ground sites. The data represents the nadir view of the ground for different sites that cover areas ranging from 50 m × 50 m to 1 km x 1 km.

Spectral calibration method of the field spectrometer using combined solar Fraunhofer lines and atmospheric absorption characteristics: case study at the Baotou RadCalNet site and implications for reflectance measurement

Applied Optics
Accurate spectral parameters are fundamental for the quantitative application of hyperspectral data, particularly in the automated measurement of surface characteristic parameters. With the widespread use of networked ground spectrometers, the performance of these instruments is significantly influenced by environmental conditions, making the accuracy ...
