Off-pump coronary bypass surgery adversely affects alveolar gas exchange [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
While the introduction of off-pump myocardial revascularization (OPCAB) has initially shown promise in reducing respiratory complications inherent to conventional coronary surgery, it has failed to eradicate them.

Open Radial Artery Study

open access: yesThe American Journal of Cardiology
Radial artery occlusion (RAO) has been the most common postprocedural complication of transradial artery access. The optimal method of prevention of RAO is still lacking. In our study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of patent hemostasis on early (24 hours) and late (2 weeks) RAO prevention.

Elastomeric Micro‐Balloons for Remote Control of Cerebral Blood Flow and Real‐Time In vivo Imaging of Rodent Brain Response to Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of MRI‐compatible elastomeric micro‐balloons via a multi‐step bubble casting process, where the monolithic elastomeric wall is selectively stiffened for reversible and controlled inflation and elasticity, depending on the target vessels for graded occlusion of cerebral arteries.

75. Endoscopic radial artery harvest reduces forearm complications when compared to conventional methods: A pooled Analysis

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2015
Impetus on total arterial revascularization has led to increased use of the radial artery as a conduit for coronary artery bypass grafting. The radial artery conduit is being increasingly as alternative to saphenous vein as conduit.

A Nano‐Interception Strategy for Chronic Heart Failure: Prussian Blue Nanoparticles Disrupt Fibroblast‐Immune Communication via CCL2 Sequestration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A nano‐interception strategy disrupts pathogenic fibroblast–macrophage crosstalk in chronic heart failure. Scalable Prussian blue nanoparticles selectively sequester CCL2 via ultrahigh‐affinity binding, preventing CCR2+ macrophage recruitment and breaking a key fibro‐inflammatory circuit. This approach demonstrates robust efficacy in murine and porcine

Recent Advances in Electrospun Nanofibers for Triboelectric Nanogenerators: Performance Enhancement Strategies and Emerging Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in electrospun nanofiber‐based triboelectric nanogenerators, emphasizing how material design, fiber architecture, and interface engineering collectively enhance output performance and mechanical durability. Key developments in porous, aligned, core‐shell, and hierarchical nanofibers are discussed alongside ...

A modified technique for radial artery access: how interventional radiologists can optimise the cardiologists’ technique to suite their procedures

open access: yesCVIR Endovascular
Background This is a single-centre prospective observational study examining radial access in 62 Prostatic Artery Embolisation (PAE) procedures. Evaluation of left radial artery diameter using high frequency ultrasound before and after administration of ...

Variations in the origin, course and branching pattern of the radial artery along with clinical correlations: narrative review

open access: yesJornal Vascular Brasileiro
The radial artery most often arises from the brachial artery in the cubital fossa, lying deep to the brachioradialis in the upper part and superficial in the lower part.

Comparison of the Plasma Metabolome Profiles Between the Internal Thoracic Artery and Ascending Aorta in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery Using Gas Chromatography Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundThe left internal thoracic artery (LITA) has been used as the first conduit of choice in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) because of excellent long-term patency and outcomes.
