Numerical simulation approach of radial collector well
2011 International Symposium on Water Resource and Environmental Protection, 2011Based on the analysis of the flow characteristics of radial collector well, a mathematic model was developed by adapting the equivalent hydraulic conductivity and the model of coupled seepage and pipe flow for radial collector well. Through the analysis of the hydro-geological conditions, the manner of radial collector well was proposed to exploit ...

Multilayer Analytic Element Modeling of Radial Collector Wells
Ground Water, 2005Abstract A new multilayer approach is presented for the modeling of ground water flow to radial collector wells. The approach allows for the inclusion of all aspects of the unique boundary condition along the lateral arms of a collector well, including skin effect and internal friction losses due to flow in the arms.

The stream depletion rate (SDR) is computed for a radial collector well installed in a semi-infinite, anisotropic, homogeneous, unconfined aquifer near a fully penetrating stream with a streambed with reduced conductivity. For small pumping rates dimensional analysis and other arguments allow the SDR to be expressed as a function of eight parameters ...

To withdraw large quantities of groundwater from the alluvial aquifers for various uses near riverbeds, radial collector (RC) wells are often preferable to the installation of several small diameter tube wells. In regions where rivers are not perennial or have low flow conditions during most part of the year, the RC wells are placed in the riverbed to ...

An analytical solution for a radial collector well near a stream with a low-permeability streambed
Journal of Hydrology, 2012Summary Radial collector wells are often constructed near a stream to obtain more water and produce smaller drawdown in comparison with traditional vertical wells. This paper aims at developing a mathematical model for describing head distributions induced by pumping in a radial collector well near a stream in an unconfined aquifer.

Radial Collector Wells Adjacent to the River Bank
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1963Capacity of a radial collector well adjacent to the river bank depends on diameter of the filtration gallery which is formed during the collector construction, height of collectors above the. impervious stratum, collector length, number of collectors, distance from the river bank, well spacing (if wells are disposed in an array), aquifer thickness ...

Design and Use of Radial Collector Wells
Journal - American Water Works Association, 1964This article discusses radial collector wells, horizontal perforated conduits that intercept and collect groundwater derived principally from surface water infiltration. Such supplies are usually found in the sand and gravel deposits underlying, and hydraulically connected with, surface sources such as rivers, lakes, or oceans.

A radial collector well is used for the extraction of a large amount of groundwater without causing a deep drawdown at the well’s center, and it is appropriate for the supply of municipal water through riverbank filtration (RBF). Flow path changes caused by water extraction through a radial collector well were simulated to estimate the amount of river ...

Hydrodynamic analysis of radial collector well ageing at Belgrade well field
Journal of Hydrology, 2020Abstract The origin and effect of hydraulic resistances on the rate of ageing of radial collector wells are identified through numerical hydrodynamic analysis. The research includes hydrodynamic modeling of one such well with new laterals at Belgrade well field. The performance of the laterals is aggravated by rapid ageing.
