Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

A Novel Hybrid Optimization-Based Algorithm for the Single and Multi-Objective Achievement With Optimal DG Allocations in Distribution Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Distribution networks are facing new challenges with the emergence of smart grids, such as capacity limitations, voltage instability, and many others. These challenges can potentially lead to brownouts and blackouts.

Identification of Optimal Path Through Network Reconfiguration in Distribution System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Network Reconfiguration is basically the changing the topological structure of the tie and sectionalizing switches. Distribution Networks are operated either in meshed or in radial configuration.

Assessment of the last-in-first out principle of access for managing the connection of distributed wind generators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Recent projects in the UK have investigated different connection arrangements for managing distributed wind generators to maintain thermal limits and a number of principle of access for generators to the limited distribution network capacity have been ...

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Analytical Formulas of Molecular Ion Abundances and N2H+ Ring in Protoplanetary Disks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We investigate the chemistry of ion molecules in protoplanetary disks, motivated by the detection of N$_2$H$^+$ ring around TW Hya. While the ring inner radius coincides with the CO snow line, it is not apparent why N$_2$H$^+$ is abundant outside the CO ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Network Organization of Antibody Interactions in Sequence and Structure Space: the RADARS Model

open access: yesAntibodies, 2020
Adaptive immunity in vertebrates is a complex self-organizing network of molecular interactions. While deep sequencing of the immune-receptor repertoire may reveal clonal relationships, functional interpretation of such data is hampered by the inherent ...

Distributed Optimal Power Flow Algorithm for Radial Networks, I: Balanced Single Phase Case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The optimal power flow (OPF) problem determines a network operating point that minimizes a certain objective such as generation cost or power loss. Traditionally, OPF is solved in a centralized manner.
