Allocating Loss with Network Reconfiguration in Radial Distribution Networks

2018 International Conference on Recent Innovations in Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ICRIEECE), 2018
In this paper, loss is allocated to the various nodes in a radial distribution network when the network undergoes reconfiguration to reduce the overall power loss. A new method of loss allocation is formulated using the bus identification scheme described.

Radial versus primary network distribution

Electrical Engineering, 1934
In this paper is set forth the comparative investment indistribution plant necessary over a 10-year period to provide for load increase in a typical section of Chicago, either by means of the existing radial feeder system or a primary network system. The results show that, in terms of both total new investment and accumulated annual costs, the use of ...

Series capacitor compensation for radial distribution networks

ISGT2011-India, 2011
Poor voltage regulation is a bane on our distribution system. This paper presents a technique of finding out the optimal values of compensation factors, of series capacitors, using genetic algorithm, placed in a radial distribution system. The voltage profile, active losses and the annual savings with series capacitors on different loading conditions ...

Load Flow Solution for Radial Distribution Network

2018 2nd IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES), 2018
The paper proposes an elementary and straightforward approach for load flow evaluation for radial distribution networks. Two developed matrices – BIBC and BCBV (the bus injection to branch current matrix and the branch current to bus voltage matrix) and an easy matrix multiplication are applied to get load flow results.

Probabilistic load flow in radial distribution networks

Proceedings of 1996 Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition, 2002
This paper presents a modification of the general analytical probabilistic load flow methodology, used primarily in the analysis of composite systems. Some appropriate approximations are introduced and the radial operating structure of power distribution systems is also utilized.

Harmonic Penetration Method for Radial Distribution Networks

International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems, 2014
Abstract This work presents a method for calculating harmonic voltages and currents in radial distribution networks. The proposed method is an extension of the backward/forward sweep method for load flow studies in distribution systems and as such preserves its good convergence characteristics besides of not requiring of any network matrix.

State estimation algorithm for radial distribution networks

2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT), 2017
State estimation is a basic function, which results are used in almost all other functions for the analysis, management and planning of distribution networks. The paper describes the process of load calibration that is one of the basic steps in the process of state estimation in the distribution network.

Voltage Stability Analysis of Radial Distribution Networks

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2003
The paper presents voltage stability analysis of radial distribution networks. A new stability index is proposed to identify the nodes that are on the verge of voltage collapse. The value of the proposed voltage stability index is calculated at each node of the network. A modified load flow method is used for voltage stability analysis.

Voltage stability index of radial Distribution network

2011 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical and Computer Technology, 2011
Distribution networks experience distinct change from a low to high load level every day. Hence, a major concern in power distribution networks, which have surfaced fairly, recently is the problem of voltage stability. In this paper in the first phase of work an attempt has been made for performing voltage stability analysis of electrical power ...

A NETWORK TOPOLOGY-BASED VOLTAGE STABILITY INDEX FOR RADIAL DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS

International Journal of Power and Energy Systems, 2009
This paper presents a network topology-based voltage stability index for identifying the most sensitive bus to the voltage collapse in the radial distribution networks. The developed index is based on the transferred active and reactive power equation of the distribution line.
