Impact of increased distributed photovoltaic generation on radial distribution networks

2016 International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT), 2016
In this paper, the analysis is carried out over distribution test systems. The analyses show that voltage variation problems occur in different nodes of the distribution networks with an increase of penetration level. However, proper selection of dispersion level can improve the voltage profile and decrease losses of the distribution systems. Depending

Novel method for solving radial distribution networks

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1994
The paper presents a novel method using load flow for solving radial distribution networks. The radial feature of the network has been fully exploited to develop an algorithm by a unique lateral, node and branch numbering scheme. The proposed method involves only the evaluation of simple algebraic voltage expressions without any trigonometric functions.

Distribution systems—basic techniques and radial networks

1984
Over the past few decades distribution systems have received considerably less of the attention devoted to reliability modelling and evaluation than have generating systems. The main reasons for this are that generating stations are individually very capital intensive and that generation inadequacy can have widespread catastrophic consequences for both

Network Reconfiguration of radial distribution network using Cuckoo Search Algorithm

2015 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON), 2015
This paper presents, optimization of switching operation of tie and sectionalizing switches to perform Network Reconfiguration (NR). The main objectives are to attain minimum loss, to improve voltage profile, power factor and to maintain the power balance in the radial distribution system (RDS) during NR.

An Optimization Model for Planning Radial Distribution Networks

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1979
A primary feeder model using small area demand locations to represent nonuniform loads, and feeder segments having variable distribution costs and limited capacities is formulated. The solution of problems having 1000 demand locations and 100 substations can be found in a fraction of a second by using a current fast upper bounded transshipment code ...

Optimal Location of Distributed Generators in a Radial Distribution Network

2020
Electrical power loss and low-voltage profile represent loss of revenue to power utility providers as well as electricity end users. Utility providers therefore need to take steps towards minimizing power losses and ensure appreciable bus voltage at the load ends. There are various methods for improving the performance of a power network.

DOPF of radial distribution network based on ADMM

2017 Chinese Automation Congress (CAC), 2017
For controlling distributed controllable units in radial distribution networks, a method based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) for dynamic distributed optimal power flow (DOPF) is designed. The convex DistFlow model for power flow is spitted into two layers.

Graphics Aided Interactive Analysis of Radial Distribution Networks

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1987
This paper presents an interactive graphics package for distribution system analysis. The radial operation of the distribution networks is exploited in order to effect a fast and accurate calculation of the power flows, the voltage drops and the power losses at the various segments of a feeder for a given set of typical load curves.
