A theory for radial jet reattachment flow

1st National Fluid Dynamics Conference, 1988
Both laminar and turbulent flows are considered. A component analysis is used for the theoretical treatment. The jet flow component is modeled with Schlichting's velocity profile for the laminar case and with Gortler's velocity profile for the turbulence case. The influence of the nozzle exit geometry and the spacing between the radial jet and the flat

Radial flow electroosmotic pump

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2011
a b s t r a c t This paper presents a radial frit geometry electroosmotic pump with a soft, semi-permeable gas venting membrane top. Radial pumps exhibit more than three times the average open flow rate per applied voltage and four times the average flow rate per sourced power than linear pumps for a given pump package volume.

Radial Flows in Supergranules

Solar Physics, 2002
We determine the radial component of the supergranular flow velocity by examining the center-to-limb variation of the Doppler velocity signal. We acquire individual Doppler images obtained with the MDI instrument on the SOHO spacecraft and process them to remove the p-mode oscillation signal, the axisymmetric flows, the convective blueshift signal, and

Radially spreading buoyant flows

Journal of Hydraulic Research, 2001
The nature of the radially spreading flow that forms after a vertical buoyant jet impinges on the surface has been investigated. Previous studies have provided conflicting conclusions as to whether or not an internal hydraulic jump forms in the radially spreading flow.

Newtonian radial entrance flow

AIChE Journal, 2000
AbstractThe laminar flow of a Newtonian fluid is considered through a prototype radial entrance geometry that consists of a circular pipe joined to the bottom plate of a pair of parallel circular plates, a configuration that mimics and idealizes important practical flows. The equations of motion are solved numerically to compute the velocity field as a

Radial flow turbines

1984
The flow path in radial turbines may be centrifugal as in the Ljungstrom design or, more commonly, centripetal as in most of the machines found in both water power installations and in gas power generation plant. The two types of flow path are illustrated in Figs 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3.

The Radial Flow Compressor

1982
Throughout the history of turbocharging, the type of compressors and turbines used have reflected the general state of the art, at any particular time, in the field of turbomachinery. The very first turbochargers (chapter 2) were built with radial flow single or two-stage compressors, incorporating backswept vaned shrouded impellers (figure 3.1a ...

The radial flow viscometer

Chemical Engineering Science, 1969
Abstract The radial flow of a non-Newtonian liquid between parallel plates has been theoretically examined for a Rivlin-Ericksen fluid. It was found that by experimentally measuring the radial pressure distribution and comparing the data with theoretical predictions, both the lower-limiting viscosity and a normal stress coefficient of the fluid may ...

Oblique Radial Forearm Reverse-Flow Flap

Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, 2003
A modifed design for the distally-based radial forearm flap is presented, in an oblique direction rather than longitudinally, based on the existence of skin laxity in the proximal forearm region. The skin paddle of the flap is designed in an oblique fashion pedicled on one of the proximal-row septocutaneous perforators, and elevated in the usual manner
