Geometrical factors influencing muscle force development. II. Radial forces
If the subfragment-2 (S2) portion of the myosin cross-bridge to actin does not lie parallel to the myofilament axes then when a muscle fiber contracts, there will be a radial component to the cross-bridge force. When the subfragment-1 (S1) portion of the cross-bridge attaches to actin with its long axis projecting through the filament axis, the ...

Analysis of Unsteady Pressure Fluctuation in a Semi-Open Cutting Pump
In order to understand the pressure fluctuation characteristics of a semi-open cutting pump, the three-dimensional unsteady flow fields were calculated. External and internal flow characteristics of four schemes with different relative angles between the

Testing Method of Stent’s Radial Force [PDF]
In case of coronary arteriosclerosis and heart attack balloon-expandable stents are used. These balloon crimped implants are placed to the occluded vessel part and the balloons are pumped with big pressure (4-20 bar).

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Refinement of Analytical Current Waveform for Acoustic Noise Reduction in Switched Reluctance Motor
In this article, a refinement algorithm of the current waveform that flattens the radial-force sum in switched reluctance motors is proposed. Flattening the radial-force sum eliminates the multiples of the third radial-force component.

Influence of Different Pole Head Shapes on Motor Performance in Switched Reluctance Motors
The main reasons of the vibrations occurring in the stator of Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) are the radial forces and they cause acoustic noise. This has an adverse effect on the performance of SRM.

On the Effect of Cavitation on the Radial Forces and Hydrodynamic Stiffness of a Centrifugal Pump [PDF]
The asymmetric flow within a volute exerts a radial force on a centrifugal impeller. The present paper presents experimental measurements of the radial forces on the impeller in the presence of ...
