Radial Force Control of a Switched Reluctance Motor with Two-Phase Sinusoidal Excitations [PDF]
Due to its special structure, the shaft radial force and torque of switched reluctance motor can be separately controlled by proper selection of pole currents.

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Radial Force on the Impeller of a Centrifugal Pump
Radial force of a centrifugal pump was measured, using a pump which had a device for measuring the radial force and a volute casing with an interchangeable tongue. The authors obtained some knowledge about the following items and discussed them: (1) The effect of the cross-sectional area and shape of volute tongue on the pump characteristic and radial ...

Radial forcing and Edgar Allan Poe's lengthening pendulum [PDF]
Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum, we investigate a radially driven, lengthening pendulum. We first show that increasing the length of an undriven pendulum at a uniform rate does not amplify the oscillations in a manner consistent with the behavior of the scythe in Poe's story.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

On the balance of forces and radial accelerations in hurricanes [PDF]
AbstractThe degree to which the gradient or cyclostrophic wind equation is applicable for hurricane winds above the surface friction layer is tested on 10 levels in four hurricanes (8 different days) in which aircraft of the National Hurricane Research Project of the United States Weather Bureau flew radial leg penetrations during the 1957–58 seasons ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
