Ipsilateral Radial Head Dislocation And Proximal One-Third Radial Shaft Fracture In An Adult: A Case Report

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction:Dislocation of the radial head in adults is quite uncommon. A simultaneous dislocation of the radial head with a fracture of ipsilateral shaft radius without any other associated injury is even rare.Case Presentation:We are reporting a case ...

Magnetic resonance imaging findings in 46 elbows with a radial head fracture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Radial head fractures are common, and may be associated with other injuries of clinical importance. We present the results of a standard additional MRI scan for patients with a radial head fracture.

Toward Perception‐Native Electronic Skin: Bio‐Inspired In‐/Near‐Sensor and Neuromorphic Computing for Humanoid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Mini-plate Fixation for Comminuted Radial Head Fracture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Purpose: The recommended treatment of displaced or comminuted radial head fracture has been excision with or without prosthesis replacement. Excision of radial head will result in valgus deformity, and proximal migration of radius. Long term follow up of

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

Radial head prosthesis after fracture of radial head with associated elbow instability

open access: yes, 2006
Introduction: Fractures of the radial head and associated elbow instability can be treated with operation with radial head prosthesis. In this study, we evaluate function 1-7 years after implantation and also function after removal of five prostheses ...

Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...
