Experimental and Numerical Study of the Stability of Radially Jet Drilled Laterals in Chalk Reservoirs

Proceedings, 2018
Summary One way of increasing hydrocarbon production is to extend the lateral reach of the wellbore by lateral holes. The approach bypasses the potentially damaged near-wellbore area, thus improving the productivity of the well and enhancing the swept area.

Where the Laterals Go? A Feasible Way for the Trajectory Measurement of Radial Jet Drilling Wells

SPE Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2018
Abstract Radial jet drilling (RJD) is an unconventional drilling technology to drill multiple radial laterals by using a high-pressure liquid jet. It is a cost-effective alternative to bypass damage zones near the wellbore, restimulate the production of old wells and develop the unconventional reservoirs. However, due to the structure of

Coiled-Tubing Radials Placed by Water-Jet Drilling: Field Results, Theory, and Practice

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1993
Abstract The URRS makes multiple 25 to 150 ft (8 to 46 m) radiais in one or more layers. The range of stable production enhancement with multiple radiais in both light and heavy oil wells in various formations varies from a two times (200%) to as much as a ten times (1,000%) improvement depending on reservoir and wellbore conditions. The
