Radial Nerve Injuries Associated With Humeral Fractures

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2006
A radial nerve injury associated with a humeral shaft fracture is an important injury pattern among trauma patients. It is the most common peripheral nerve injury associated with this fracture. Although treatment for this injury pattern is a controversial subject among upper-extremity surgeons, certain principles of management need to be applied in all

Radial nerve injuries in fractures of the shaft of the humerus

The American Journal of Surgery, 1960
C ONFUSION exists among surgeons on management of immediate nerve palsies complicating fractures of the shaft of the humerus. The treatment of such patients by operation and cIosed methods at the Fracture Service of the Columbia-Presbyterian MedicaI Center focused our interest on this problem and prompted the present study.

Analysis of proximal radial nerve injury in the arm

Neurology India, 2010
Radial nerve is the most frequently injured major nerve in the upper extremity. Proximal part of the radial nerve involvement can result from a humerus fracture, direct nerve trauma, compression and rarely from tumors. The aim of the study is to determine the clinical characteristics and electrodiagnostic findings in patients with proximal radial nerve ...

Sensory deficits after a radial nerve injury

Microsurgery, 2017
BackgroundThe aim of our study was to objectively test sensibility on the dorsal side of the hand in patients with radial nerve injury, to document deficits and to detect if surgery for sensory reconstruction is needed.MethodsNineteen patients of mean age 31 ± 10 years were examined at a mean of 26.4 ± 27.8 months post radial nerve injury.

Radial Nerve Injuries and Outcomes: Our Experience

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2011
The purpose of this study was to evaluate retrospectively the patients who had undergone radial nerve reconstruction. The medical charts of 35 patients with radial nerve lesions and 13 patients with superficial radial nerve lesions who underwent surgical exploration and repair in the authors' center were reviewed.

Severe injuries of the radial nerve treated by sural nerve grafting

Injury, 1985
We present six cases of severe injuries of the radial nerve in the arm. These were all treated by autogenous nerve grafting over distances of between 7 and 14 cm up to 26 months after the injury. We describe our results and discuss the place of nerve grafting in the management of these injuries.

Radial nerve injuries in unrecovered radial nerve palsy associated with humerus fractures

Journal of Musculoskeletal Surgery and Research
Objectives: The therapeutic management of radial nerve palsy secondary to humerus fractures presents a complex clinical scenario with diverse presentations and treatment approaches. However, there is limited understanding of the specific patterns of unrecovered radial nerve injuries in this context.

Radial Nerve Injury and Entrapment

2002
The radial nerve, which innervates the upper limb together with the median nerve and the ulnar nerve, is one of the most important peripheral nerves. Its damage can cause loss of active extension error of the wrist and digits. Because it runs along the humerus, it is susceptible to damage by compression and fractures.
