Critical Upper Limb Ischemia Due to Brachial Tourniquet in Misdiagnosed Thoracic Outlet Syndrome after Carpal Tunnel Decompression: A Case Report [PDF]
We present the case of a 68-year-old woman, referred to our department for critical upper limb ischemia, which had occurred a few days after homolateral surgical ligamentotomy for carpal tunnel syndrome, diagnosed and confirmed by electromyography, and ...

Cross-sectional analysis of a large cohort with X-linked Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMTX1) [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: To extend the phenotypic description of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMTX1) and to draw new genotype-phenotype relationships. METHODS: Mutations in GJB1 cause the main X-linked form of CMTX (CMTX1).

Investigated mutations in transthyretin (TTR) disrupt the F87‐centered hydrophobic core that stabilizes its tetrameric structure. The mild I107V mutation weakens inter‐chain packing, while H88R fully abolishes tetramer formation, yielding a monomeric, aggregation‐prone form. Structural, biophysical, and computational analyses reveal that both mutations

Foam pads properties and their effects on posturography in participants of different weight [PDF]
Background: Foam pads are increasingly used on force platforms during balance assessments in order to produce increased instability thereby permitting the measurement of enhanced posturographic parameters.

An eye on long‐duration spaceflight: Controversies, countermeasures and challenges
Abstract Space flight‐associated neuroocular syndrome (SANS) is a consequence of long‐duration space flight and is detected in two‐thirds of astronauts. In‐flight, this can cause a change in the refraction of the eyes, requiring graded hypermetropic ‘superfocus adjustable’ glasses, optic nerve head oedema and choroidal folds.

Clinical neurological examination vs electrophysiological studies: Reflections from experiences in occupational medicine [PDF]
Seventy-five percent of upper limb disorders that are related to work are regarded as diagnostically unclassifiable and therefore challenging to the clinician.

Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

Hereditary Neuropathy with Liability to Pressure Palsy Presenting with Hand Drop in a Young Child [PDF]
Hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsy (HNPP) results from the deletion of the PMP22 gene in chromosome 17p11.2. Clinically, it presents with painless pressure palsies, typically in the 2nd and 3rd decades of life, being a rare entity in

Objective Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) can drastically impair one's ability to work and interferes with activities of daily living. We recently demonstrated that, in rodents, conditioning electrical stimulation (CES) delivered to the nerve 7 days prior to surgery imparts a conditioning lesion‐like effect by accelerating the rate of regeneration along ...
