Comparison of inflow and outflow radial air turbines in vented and bidirectional OWC wave energy converters [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy, 2019
This study analyses the aerodynamic performance of two unidirectional-radial-air-turbine configurations; inflow and outflow. These turbines were studied as the Power-Take-Off unit for application on a vented-OWC and a conventional-bidirectional-OWC with a twin-turbine topology, forming four different turbine-OWC configurations.

Performance assessments and simulations of ROT (radial outflow turbine) for back-pressure turbine generator system

Energy, 2021
Abstract The high pressure steam is regulated by the Pressure-Reducing Valves (PRVs) to suit the various industrial process; however, this, inevitably leads to economic and energy losses. In this study, PRV is replaced by a back-pressure turbine generator comprising a Radial Outflow Turbine (ROT).

Field performance evaluation of geothermal ORC power plants with a focus on radial outflow turbines [PDF]

open access: yesRenewable Energy, 2020
Abstract The calculation of the performance of an ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) and its components (in particularly the turbine) is generally not a trivial task because of the lack of a proper instrumentation, the inaccuracy of the available measurements and the uncertainty on fluid thermodynamic properties calculation.

Design And Cfd Analysis Of A 150 Kw 8-Stage Orc-Rot (Organic Rankine Cycle - Radial Outflow Turbine) And Performance Degradation Due To Blade Tip Clearance Of Labyrinth Seal [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 3: Coal, Biomass, and Alternative Fuels; Cycle Innovations; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration; Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems, 2018
In this study, blade tip leakages were calculated for a Radial Outflow Turbine (ROT) designed for an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) at a 150kW power output. Since the turbine blade sizes are relatively very small for low-capacity systems, the leakages through the blade tip clearances considerably affect the turbine isentropic efficiency.
