Positive and oscillatory radial solutions of semilinear elliptic equations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Stochastic Analysis, 1996
We prove that the nonlinear partial differential equation urn:x-wiley:20903332:media:ista823105:ista823105-math-0001 , with u(0) > 0, where f and g are continuous, f(u) > 0 and g(|x|, u) > 0 for u > 0, and urn:x-wiley:20903332:media:ista823105:ista823105-math-0002 , has no positive or eventually positive radial solutions.

Assessment of Skin in Patients With Systemic Sclerosis Using High‐Frequency Ultrasound and Shear Wave Elastography: A Comparative Study With Histology, Molecular, and Clinical Parameters

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Ultrasound (US) has been proposed as a potential tool for assessing skin fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc). However, a large‐scale comparison of US‐based assessment with histologic markers of skin fibrosis has not been reported. We evaluated US‐based skin assessments for their face validity (differentiation between involved SSc and healthy

Asymptotic behavior of positive solutions for the radial p-Laplacian equation

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
We study the existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of positive solutions to the nonlinear problem $$displaylines{ frac{1}{A}(APhi _p(u'))'+q(x)u^{alpha}=0,quad hbox{in }(0,1),cr lim_{xo 0}APhi _p(u')(x)=0,quad u(1)=0, }$$ where $alpha <p-

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.

Existence of positive radial solutions for a weakly coupled system via blow up

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 1998
The existence of positive solutions to certain systems of ordinary differential equations is studied. Particular forms of these systems are satisfied by radial solutions of associated partial differential equations.

Blow-Up of Positive Solutions to Wave Equations in High Space Dimensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem for the semilinear wave equation: $u_{tt}-\Delta u=F(u) \ \mbox{in} \ R^n\times[0, \infty)$, where the space dimension $n \ge 2$, $F(u)=|u|^p$ or $F(u)=|u|^{p-1}u$ with $p>1$.

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Existence of positive radial solutions for quasilinear elliptic equations and systems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
Under simple conditions on f and g, we show that existence of positive radial solutions for the quasilinear elliptic equation $$ \hbox{div}(\phi_1(|\nabla u|) \nabla u)=a(|x|)f(u) \quad x\in \mathbb{R}^N, $$ and for the system $$\displaylines{
