Positive Radial Solutions for Semilinear Biharmonic Equations in Annular Domains
Summary: We study the existence of positive radial solutions of \(\Delta^ 2u= g(| x|) f(u)\) in an annulus with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We establish that the equation has at least one positive radially symmetric solution on any annulus if \(f\) and \(g\) are nonnegative, \(g\not\equiv 0\) and \(f\) is superlinear at zero and \(+\infty\). We also

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

On the positive, “radial” solutions of a semilinear elliptic equation in N$\mathbb {H}^N$
We discuss various kinds of existence and non existence results for positive solutions of Emden–Fowler type equations in the hyperbolic space. The main tools are perturbation analysis, variational methods, Pohozeav type identities and reduction to ...

Hopf's lemma for viscosity solutions to a class of non-local equations with applications
We consider a large family of non-local equations featuring Markov generators of L\'evy processes, and establish a non-local Hopf's lemma and a variety of maximum principles for viscosity solutions.

A short course on positive solutions of systems of ODEs via fixed point index [PDF]
We shall firstly study the existence of one positive solution of a model problem for one equation via the classical Krasnosel'ski\u\i{} fixed-point theorem.

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...
