Segregated solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger systems with a large number of components

open access: yesAdvanced Nonlinear Studies
In this paper we are concerned with the existence of segregated non-radial solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger systems with a large number of components in a weak fully attractive or repulsive regime in presence of a suitable external radial potential.

High mass function ellipsoidal variables in the Gaia Focused Product Release: searching for black hole candidates in the binary zoo

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
The recent Gaia Focused Product Release contains radial velocity time-series for more than 9,000 Gaia long-period photometric variables. Here we search for binary systems with large radial velocity amplitudes to identify candidates with massive, unseen ...

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Exact bound state solutions of the radial Schrödinger equation for the Coulomb potential by conformable Nikiforov–Uvarov approach

open access: yesOpen Physics
In this work, we investigate the use of the conformable Nikiforov–Uvarov (CNU) method to solve the radial Schrödinger equation exactly for the Coulomb potential.

Existence of positive radial solutions for a weakly coupled system via blow up

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 1998
The existence of positive solutions to certain systems of ordinary differential equations is studied. Particular forms of these systems are satisfied by radial solutions of associated partial differential equations.

Extremum-entropy-based Heisenberg-like uncertainty relations

open access: yes, 2015
In this work we use the extremization method of various information-theoretic measures (Fisher information, Shannon entropy, Tsallis entropy) for $d$-dimensional quantum systems, which complementary describe the spreading of the quantum states of natural

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

A Keck/DEIMOS spectroscopic survey of faint Galactic satellites: searching for the least massive dwarf galaxies

open access: yes, 2007
[abridged] We present the results of a spectroscopic survey of the recently discovered faint Milky Way satellites Boo, UMaI, UMaII and Wil1. Using the DEIMOS spectrograph on Keck, we have obtained samples that contain from 15 to 85 probable members of ...

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...
