RADIAL VELOCITY MONITORING OF KEPLER HEARTBEAT STARS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Heartbeat stars (HB stars) are a class of eccentric binary stars with close periastron passages. The characteristic photometric HB signal evident in their light curves is produced by a combination of tidal distortion, heating, and Doppler boosting near ...

Geometric Optimization and Mechanical Performance Enhancement of Auxetic Structures for High‐Impact Applications Through Fused Deposition Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the mechanical performance of three auxetic structures, identifying a re‐entrant‐star hybrid as the most effective for impact absorption. Finite element simulations and experiments demonstrate significant gains in energy absorption and flexural strength after geometric optimization. This study investigates the mechanical performance

Reconstructing the solar integrated radial velocity using MDI/SOHO

open access: yes, 2010
Searches for exoplanets with radial velocity techniques are increasingly sensitive to stellar activity. It is therefore crucial to characterize how this activity influences radial velocity measurements in their study of the detectability of planets in ...

30. Radial Velocities [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the International Astronomical Union, 1985
This report covers the period June 1981 to June 1984. and includes some material from IAU Colloquium No. 88, October, 1984.). The field of radial velocities has undergone a renaissance in the last few years as the new radial velocity machines have come into use. Not only can stars of much fainter magnitudes be reached, but the precision of the measured

Long-term radial-velocity variations of the Sun as a star: The HARPS view [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Stellar radial velocities play a fundamental role in the discovery of extrasolar planets and the measurement of their physical parameters as well as in the study of stellar physical properties.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Optimisasi Waktu Tempuh Pada Multi-AGV Menggunakan Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesJurnal Ilmiah Teknik Industri, 2016
An algorithm for velocity planning on a continuous-curvature path of a pair of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) that minimizing its travelling time is presented. A class of 3-degree Bezier curves is used as basic form of the path.

Analysis on the influence of fine detection technology of dual polarization weather radar on recognition ability of two tornado storms in 2021

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2022
Reflectivity and Doppler velocity measurements from the new generation weather radar provide important input for the identification and early warning of severe storms and tornadoes.

Velocity and velocity bounds in static spherically symmetric metrics

open access: yes, 2010
We find simple expressions for velocity of massless particles in dependence of the distance $r$ in Schwarzschild coordinates. For massive particles these expressions put an upper bound for the velocity.

Radial Velocity along the Voyager 1 Trajectory: The Effect of Solar Cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
As Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are approaching the heliopause (HP)—the boundary between the solar wind (SW) and the local interstellar medium (LISM)—we expect new, unknown features of the heliospheric interface to be revealed.
