DLR's New Traceable Radiance Standard “RASTA”

open access: yes, 2012
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) operates the Calibation Home Base (CHB) as a facility for the calibration of airborne imaging spectrometers such as APEX, HySpex and ROSIS, and for field spectrometers.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...

Concept for improved radiometric calibration of radiance sources at the CHB facility

open access: yes, 2010
The Calibation Home Base (CHB) is a facility for the calibration of airborne imaging spectrometers such as APEX, ROSIS and in the future ARES, and for field spectrometers. Absolute radiometric calibration in the spectral range of 350–2500 nm is currently

An integrated model of soil-canopy spectral radiances, photosynthesis, fluorescence, temperature and energy balance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents the model SCOPE (Soil Canopy Observation, Photochemistry and Energy fluxes), which is a vertical (1-D) integrated radiative transfer and energy balance model. The model links visible to thermal infrared radiance spectra (0.4 to 50 μm)

Regional Evolution of the Meteosat Solar and Infrared Spectra (2005–2024) Linked to Cloud Cover and Ocean Surface

open access: yesAtmosphere
We analyze the evolution of atmospheric and surface physical properties over the region of the Earth observed by the Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) satellites during the period 2005–2024. Long-term changes are detected in the observed radiances, with a

Climate Data Records from Meteosat First Generation Part III: Recalibration and Uncertainty Tracing of the Visible Channel on Meteosat-2–7 Using Reconstructed, Spectrally Changing Response Functions

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
This paper presents a new Fundamental Climate Data Record (FCDR) for the visible (VIS) channel of the Meteosat Visible and Infrared Imager (MVIRI), with pixel-level metrologically traceable uncertainties and error covariance estimates.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
