Recognizing production options for pearl millet in Pakistan under changing climate scenarios

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2017
Climate change is making the lands a harsher environment all over the world including Pakistan. It is expected to oppose us with three main challenges: increase in temperature up to 2–5°C (heat stress), increasing water stress and severe malnourishment ...

Ridge-furrow planting with black film mulching increases rainfed summer maize production by improving resources utilization on the Loess Plateau of China

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management, 2023
Soil mulching has been widely used to improve crop productivity around the world, but how various mulching practices affect soil hydrothermal conditions, water-temperature-radiation utilization and finally grain yield of rainfed maize has been poorly ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Resource use efficiency of different wheat species under drought stress

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2018
Genotypes of modern bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) produced significantly more grain yield over spelt (Triticum spelta L.) and emmer (Triticum dicoccum) genotypes of ancient wheat.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Evaluation of radiation use efficiency and its relationship with dry matter accumulation in three millet species

open access: yesپژوهشهای زراعی ایران, 2009
A factorial arrangement of three millets species (Panicum miliaceum, Pennisetum glaucum, and Setaria italica) and two sowing dates with three replications were used in a completely randomized design to evaluate the radiation use efficiency and its ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Water and radiation productivity in different cropping sequences in the north center of Santa Fe

open access: yesRevista de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, 2020
Dry matter and grain productions depend on the ability of crops to capture resources. Productivity of resourses is defined based on the amount of grain or dry matter produced per unit of available resource (solar radiation or rainfall) during the ...
