Gravitational deflection of null radiation by relativistic, spherical masses

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1979
We consider bursts of null radiation emitted from point sources at rest within a relativistic, spherical mass distribution whose gravitational field is represented by the interior and exterior Schwarzschild metrics. Numerical calculations are presented, in the geometrical optics approximation, of the resulting distributions of energy radiated to ...

Physical Origin of Temperature Induced Activation Energy Switching in Electrically Conductive Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The temperature‐induced Arrhenius activation energy switching phenomenon of electrical conduction in electrically conductive cement originates from structural degradation within the biphasic ionic‐electronic conduction architecture and shows percolation‐governed characteristics: pore network opening dominates the low‐percolation regime with downward ...

Thyroid cancer after childhood exposure to external radiation : An updated pooled analysis of 12 studies

open access: yes, 2016
Studies have causally linked external thyroid radiation exposure in childhood with thyroid cancer. In 1995, investigators conducted relative risk analyses of pooled data from seven epidemiologic studies. Doses were mostly 50 Gy.

Phase Diagrams and Piezoelectric Properties of Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN Heterostructural Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ferroelectricity and piezoelectric properties improvement of quaternary wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films, guided by density functional theory calculations. Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films have a high optical bandgap, enhanced piezoelectric ...

Photonic‐Enabled Energy‐Efficient Transparent Neuromorphic Computing Devices: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transparent photonic neuromorphic computing devices merge optics and brain‐inspired computing to overcome von Neumann bottlenecks with ultrafast, low‐energy processing. By exploiting transparent oxides, 2D materials, phase‐change materials, and hybrid heterostructures, these platforms enable photonic synapses, memory, and logic for see‐through edge ...

Isomeric Ag14 Nanoclusters With Distinct Photophysical and Nanomechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ligand‐shell isomerism in atomically precise Ag14 nanoclusters is demonstrated to regulate core distortion, photoluminescence, and mechanical properties. Subtle changes in phosphine ligand arrangement drive a pronounced emission shift from green to red and alter crystal rigidity, revealing a direct structure‐property correlation that offers new design ...

Ductile B2 Intermetallics‐Driven Strength‐Ductility Synergy in Heterolaminated Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intrinsic phase toughening transforms a brittle B2 intermetallic into a plastically deformable, load‐bearing phase, while a heterogeneous laminated architecture suppresses strain localization and interface cracking. The synergy between ductile intermetallics and mesoscale heterogeneity establishes a general design strategy for breaking the long ...

MgP4/CNT‐Graphene Embedded in Hard Carbon Matrix as a High‐Capacity Anode for Next‐Generation Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phosphorus‐rich MgP4 is introduced as a high capacity anode for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) via hybrid carbon matrix engineering. A sequential CNT/G assembly forms a conductive and mechanically robust network, delivering a high reversible capacity of 1386 mAh g−1 while stabilizing alloying reactions.
