Possible role of human ribonuclease dicer in the regulation of R loops
R loops play an important role in regulating key cellular processes such as replication, transcription, centromere stabilization, or control of telomere length. However, the unscheduled accumulation of R loops can cause many diseases, including cancer, and neurodegenerative or inflammatory disorders. Interestingly, accumulating data indicate a possible

A statistical shape model for deformable surface [PDF]
This short paper presents a deformable surface registration scheme which is based on the statistical shape modelling technique. The method consists of two major processing stages, model building and model fitting.

Dynamic conformal arcs for lung stereotactic body radiation therapy: a comparison with volumetric modulated arc therapy [PDF]
This study evaluates dynamic conformal arc (DCA) therapy as an alternative to volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) of lung cancer. The rationale for DCA is lower geometric complexity and hence reduced risk for interplay errors induced by respiratory motion.

Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Optimising Clinical Trial Design in Older Cancer Patients
Cancer is predominantly a disease of older patients, with over half of those aged over 65 years of age being diagnosed with cancer at some stage. Despite comprising a significant proportion of the patients that we see in clinical practice, there is a ...

Multi-criteria optimization methods in radiation therapy planning: a review of technologies and directions [PDF]
We review the field of multi-criteria optimization for radiation therapy treatment planning. Special attention is given to the technique known as Pareto surface navigation, which allows physicians and treatment planners to interactively navigate through treatment planning options to get an understanding of the tradeoffs (dose to the target versus over ...
