Exotic leaky wave radiation from anisotropic epsilon near zero metamaterials

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the emission of electromagnetic waves from biaxial subwavelength metamaterials. For tunable anisotropic structures that exhibit a vanishing dielectric response along a given axis, we find remarkable variation in the launch angles of energy

Photon-assisted shot noise in graphene in the Terahertz range [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
When subjected to electromagnetic radiation, the fluctuation of the electronic current across a quantum conductor increases. This additional noise, called photon-assisted shot noise, arises from the generation and subsequent partition of electron-hole ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

A Model for Estimating Dose-Rate Effects on Cell-Killing of Human Melanoma after Boron Neutron Capture Therapy

open access: yesCells, 2020
Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a type of radiation therapy for eradicating tumor cells through a 10B(n,α)7Li reaction in the presence of 10B in cancer cells.

Thermally-activated non-local amplification in quantum energy transport

open access: yes, 2015
We study energy-transport efficiency in light-harvesting planar and 3D complexes of two-level atomic quantum systems, embedded in a common thermal blackbody radiation.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Stability of divertor detachment

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2017
The 2D simulations of edge plasma transport show that unlike some earlier publications, the impurity radiation loss per se does not cause the bifurcation-like transition to detached divertor regime.

Thermodynamics of an Accretion Disk Annulus with Comparable Radiation and Gas Pressure

open access: yes, 2007
We explore the thermodynamic and global structural properties of a local patch of an accretion disk whose parameters were chosen so that radiation pressure and gas pressure would be comparable in magnitude.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
