Microdosimetry and radiation quality determinations in radiation protection and radiation therapy
Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2011Beams of different radiation qualities may, for equal absorbed dose, lead to important differences in the degree of harm for a specific biological endpoint. In many practical situations absorbed dose is then not a sufficient measure when for instance the same treatment result or risk level is the focus of attention.

RADIATION BIOLOGY: CONCEPTS FOR RADIATION PROTECTION
Health Physics, 2004The opportunity to write a historical review of the field of radiation biology allows for the viewing of the development and maturity of a field of study, thereby being able to provide the appropriate context for the earlier years of research and its findings.

Publisher Summary This chapter describes the important features of a few popular types of detectors. Most of them are based on the ionization produced by radiation, with the resulting currents passing through an electrical circuit and displayed on a meter or similar indicator.
