Highly Efficient and Salt‐Tolerant Broom‐like Bamboo Solar Evaporator: Constructing Multiscale Open Gaps to Enhance Water Transportation and Vapor Diffusion

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
A bamboo fiber aggregation‐based broom‐like evaporator with open interstitial spaces for water transport and vapor diffusion was designed that provided extensive air–liquid interfaces for facilitating fast vapor diffusion and avoiding the formation of high‐humidity zones.

Defining Safe Light Intensity Limits of Near‐Infrared Illumination Avoiding Skin Heating in Medical Optical Diagnostic Methods

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 19, Issue 7, July 2026.
The study measured skin heating from 764 nm illumination using free‐beam and dermal‐probe methods across a range of skin tones. Free‐beam heating rose with darker tones, while probe contact increased temperature independent of skin tone. Estimated safe exposure limits support design of future optical medical diagnostic devices.

On the Cell Broadening of Mesoscale Cellular Convection in a Well‐Mixed Boundary Layer

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Understanding what controls the horizontal scale of mesoscale cellular convection is central to explaining cloud self‐organization and its radiative impacts. Using a hierarchy of large‐eddy simulations, we investigate cell broadening in a well‐mixed boundary layer by isolating the roles of radiation, cloud microphysics, and water vapor.

Introduction to TREx‐ATM V2.0: A Versatile Model of Auroral Transport and Its Effects in the Ionosphere

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Auroral transport models (ATMs) play an important role in quantitative studies of optical auroras, their driving mechanisms, and their effects on the ionosphere and thermosphere. TREx‐ATM was initially developed as the support model for the Transition Region Explorer (TREx) mission, and has gained increasing applications in the community in ...

Synergistic Effects of Microwave and Osmotic Dehydration on Food Processing: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The combination of osmotic dehydration (OD) and microwave radiation (MW), referred to as microwave‐assisted osmotic dehydration (MWOD), has emerged as a promising hybrid strategy for optimizing food processing by enhancing mass transfer and preserving bioactive compounds.
