Magnetic Reconnection in Extreme Astrophysical Environments
Magnetic reconnection is a basic plasma process of dramatic rearrangement of magnetic topology, often leading to a violent release of magnetic energy. It is important in magnetic fusion and in space and solar physics --- areas that have so far provided ...

On the evolution of cooling cores in X-ray galaxy clusters
(Abridged) To define a framework for the formation and evolution of the cooling cores in X-ray galaxy clusters, we study how the physical properties change as function of the cosmic time in the inner regions of a 4 keV and 8 keV galaxy cluster under the ...

This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Hierarchically porous polymer coatings for highly efficient passive daytime radiative cooling
Painting on the cool Passive radiative cooling materials emit heat. They can reduce the need for air conditioning by providing daytime cooling but are often challenging to apply to rooftops and other building surfaces. Mandal et al.

SPH and Radiative Cooling [PDF]
I have investigated the effects of including a more realistic cooling law in SPH simulations of accretion discs. In order to improve the efficiency of the simulations, I have used Strang operator splitting, and I have developed a method of timestep control which guarantees the accuracy and stability of the simulations.Strang splitting (Strang, 1968) is

The baryon fraction in hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy clusters
We study the baryon mass fraction in a set of hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy clusters performed using the Tree+SPH code GADGET-2. We investigate the dependence of the baryon fraction upon the radiative cooling, star formation, feedback through ...
