Non-spontaneous radiative heat transfer
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1992Non-spontaneous heat transfer takes place from lower to higher temperature and normally requires work input. It has been shown, however, that no work input is necessary for non-spontaneous radiative heat transfer. However, a very critical conditioning of the optical properties of the space surrounding the radiating and receiving objects in relation to ...

Asymptotic analysis of conductive‐radiative heat transfer
Asymptotic Analysis, 2002In highly absorptive semitransparent material, conductive‐radiative heat transfer is often approximated by either diffusion approximation or Stefan–Boltzmann boundary condition. Using singular perturbations and boundary layer analysis, we derive rigorously these two approximations from the radiative transport equation.

Radiative heat transfer in furnaces
2000This chapter focuses on the notion of the high temperature furnace, which is considered an important application of radiation heat transfer where radiation is generally the dominant mechanism of heat transfer. It clarifies the object of any furnace, which is to heat some material using a high temperature heat source, such as combustion gases or an ...
