Impact of exercise on sexual health, body image, and therapy‐related symptoms in women with metastatic breast cancer: The randomized controlled PREFERABLE‐EFFECT trial

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Women with metastatic breast cancer often experience non‐life‐threatening but unpleasant symptoms, including low sexual enjoyment and vaginal dryness, but these symptoms have not been well‐studied and treatments are lacking. Body mass index as a predictive factor for efficacy of adjuvant taxane‐based chemotherapy in early‐stage breast cancer patients: A pooled analysis from adjuvant GEICAM Spanish Breast Cancer Group and TRIO Translational Research in Oncology Group studies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Body mass index (BMI) potentially influences outcomes among women with early‐stage breast cancer (EBC). Little is known, however, about relationships between BMI and disease prognosis for different adjuvant taxane‐based chemotherapies. Here, the prognostic effect of BMI on disease recurrence was evaluated among EBC patients treated with ...

Computer Aided Detection of Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforators in Computed Tomography Angiography scans [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The deep inferior epigastric artery perforator (DIEAP) flap is the most common free flap used for breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. It makes use of the skin and fat of the lower abdomen to build a new breast mound either at the same time of the mastectomy or in a second surgery.

The TESTBREAST journey: Revisiting the importance of early detection by frequent screening of women at high risk of breast cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Women who are at high risk of breast cancer (BC), either because of a BRCA1/2 mutation or family history, require more aggressive screening. Here, the authors report on the clinical characteristics of the high‐risk women who developed BC during the TESTBREAST study. Of the 1108 participants, 124 (16.5%) developed breast cancer. Their median

Numerics on the trajectory of nodule displacements by external compressions of the breast [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We present a fast and reliable algorithm that gives precise location of breast tumours for a partial mastectomy. Our algorithm is fully implemented in the Surface Evolver, which is a general-purpose simulator of physical experiments. By starting from the X-rays images that show a tumour one takes its 2D coordinates in each view.

A note on Nil and Jacobson radicals in graded rings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
It was shown by Bergman that the Jacobson radical of a Z-graded ring is homogeneous. This paper shows that the analogous result holds for nil rings, namely, that the nil radical of a Z-graded ring is homogeneous. It is obvious that a subring of a nil ring is nil, but generally a subring of a Jacobson radical ring need not be a Jacobson radical ring ...
